Users tend to jailbreak their iOS devices: we introduce in Chapter 2

about how jailbreaking uses vulnerabilities in the kernel in order to apply

and privilege escalation and remove controls and restrictions in order to

install and apply unauthorized applications, while authorized applications

are approved from Apple [11]. To be authorized, apps are subjected to an approval cycle executed by Apple; they are tested and checked to ensure

that Apple controls are maintained and applied on developed applications

[12]; such controls include integrity, reliability, and security. Jailbreaking is a privilege escalation technique that has a lot of disadvantages that

affect iPhone devices: the most important issues are security, warranty,

and bricking [13]. Since jailbreaking escalates users’ privileges by allowing users to get root access, the device falls into a high security risk status;

therefore, jailbreaking enables installing unauthorized third-party

applications that are untrusted and may contain malicious software like
